Rael and Michelle welcome you to Bike X Cape, home of South Africa motorcycle tours. Our passion for motorcycles, nature, open spaces and South African hospitality inspired us to share, with you, these amazing short tours.
Based in the Tankwa Karoo open space, a short 2½ hour drive from Cape Town, along the legendary R355, Bike X Cape offers an all inclusive South Africa guided motorcycle tour experience. Routes traverse the spectacular Cape, Cederberg and Tankwa Karoo.
Join us under the galactic Karoo skies with steaks and lamb chops sizzling on an open fire while hard core enduro motorcycles stand ready for the ride.
We will be riding gravel roads through ancient landscapes, through desert, mountains and National Parks, on our lightweight, high performance dirt bikes. View wildlife, meet the inimitable Karoo characters and visit the lost little towns of the Cape, from the saddle.
Riding the Tankwa is the antidote for the city quandary, it moves the soul and brings the Universe into perspective. See the horizon, hear the silence, smell the fresh air, twist the throttle and wash the grit down with a cold one. Bike X Cape is a motorcycle bucket list ride.
The Karoo and Cerdarberg are extreme climate zones, there is no malaria, no pollution and no violent crime. Mid-winter is in June and can be cold, while mid-summer, in December is Hot. Riding schedules are adjusted, to fit the conditions.
You will experience personal attention to detail and safety, with a lead rider and back-up vehicle to carry luggage and organize logistics.
Trips may be tailored or ride the recommended routes with us,’The Moonshine’ through Cederberg and Wupperthal, to coincide with full moon events or ‘Give Me My Space’ to Sutherland star gazing centre and Tankwa National Park.
The terrain is 99% gravel surface suited to intermediate level riders, who should have a valid license or leaner’s license. The bikes are relatively powerful machines, not suited to beginners, who may enquire about our ‘Start Line’ package.
